Two missing Utah toddlers have been found safe in Mexico with their father, authorities confirmed. The Amber Alert for one-year-old Will Richman and 10-month-old Wesley Richman was cancelled after they were located in San Felipe, Mexico, on Tuesday night.
The father, Dane Stephen Richman, 46, failed to appear for a scheduled custody exchange in Saratoga Springs, prompting the alert early on Sunday. Police expressed serious concerns for the children's safety, citing Richman's depression, financial troubles, and possible abandonment of his home before disappearing.
Court documents reveal Richman was involved in a bitter custody dispute with the boys' mother, Lizzie Tomich. He quit his job, telling his boss he was 'unable to continue working due to the current ongoing legal battles with his ex-girlfriend over the custody of his children.'
On Wednesday, the FBI's Salt Lake City field office confirmed the boys were found alive in Mexico. 'Great news update from the Saratoga Springs Police Department about the Amber Alert for Will and Wesley Richman. The boys have been found safe,' the FBI stated.
Richman has been arrested and charged with two counts of custodial interference. This is a developing story.
