Widespread Assault
The overnight attack followed one of Russia's most extensive daytime aerial bombardments on Ukraine, involving over 800 drones and missiles. President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Russia aims to “overload” Ukrainian air defences through such sustained onslaughts.
Hungary's Diplomatic Shift
Hungary's Prime Minister Péter Magyar condemned a Russian drone attack that saw 11 drones enter Ukraine's Transcarpathia region, which borders Hungary. He summoned the Russian ambassador, marking a notable shift in Hungary's diplomatic stance towards Moscow, which has often been cautious.

Russia has added Ben Wallace, the former British defence minister, to a wanted list in connection with an unspecified criminal investigation. Wallace has been a consistent advocate for increased military support for Kyiv and has criticised Russian aggression.

President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia had test-fired a new intercontinental ballistic missile, the Sarmat, which he described as the “most powerful missile in the world”. He reiterated his claim that the conflict in Ukraine is nearing its conclusion.
