Twin Brothers Arrested Following Reckless Horse Riding Incident in Charlotte
Two twin brothers have been arrested in Charlotte, North Carolina, after a viral video appeared to show them recklessly riding horses through the city's downtown streets. The incident culminated in one horse breaking loose and being struck by a passing vehicle, leading to charges against the individuals involved.
Charges and Court Details
Deven Moore and Desmon Moore, both aged 27, were charged with disorderly conduct and resisting a public officer following the events of April 3. Court records obtained by the Daily Mail reveal that the arrests stemmed from a disturbance at a city intersection, where police were called to intervene in a large group altercation.
According to arrest affidavits, officers attempted to detain Deven Moore after he allegedly tried to fight another person. During this process, Desmon Moore reportedly attempted to grab his brother from the police, leading to a brief struggle. Desmon was described as yelling and cursing while resisting arrest and refusing to provide his name to officers.
The Viral Video and Witness Accounts
A widely circulated video captured the moments leading up to the incident, showing a man attempting to stand on top of a horse as the pair rode down a Charlotte street. The man subsequently fell off, causing the horse to panic and run away. As the horse fled, it was struck by a car at a nearby intersection, prompting screams from onlookers.
Witness Ja'Queria Lynch told Queen City News that the riders appeared to be performing tricks, stating, "I don't know if he was trying to show off. I'm not sure where his headspace was, but he stood on the horse, and he just fell off." Lynch expressed immediate concern for the horse's welfare, noting, "My first immediate thought was, like, is that horse okay? Because it rolled over the car."
While the current status of the horse remains unknown, Lynch reported that someone in her group saw the animal standing up after the collision. The connection between the Moore brothers and the individuals in the video is not explicitly confirmed, but court records indicate they were arrested at the same intersection on the same night as the incident.
Legal Proceedings and Bond Information
Following their arrest, both brothers were released on bond. Deven Moore was released on a $1,000 bond, with his next court hearing scheduled for July 22. Desmon Moore was released on a $1,500 bond, with his next court date set for May 4.
The Daily Mail has contacted Charlotte police for further comment on the case. The incident highlights the dangers of reckless behavior in urban areas and has sparked discussions about public safety and animal welfare in the community.
