YouTuber Convicted of Murdering Pregnant Partner in Savage Attack
Stephen McCullagh, a YouTuber, has been found guilty of the brutal murder of his pregnant partner, Natalie McNally, in a case that involved a fabricated alibi using a pre-recorded gaming video. The verdict was delivered at Belfast Crown Court on Monday after a jury deliberated for just two hours.
Details of the Crime and Alibi
Natalie McNally, aged 32 and 15 weeks pregnant, was beaten and stabbed at her home in Lurgan on 18 December 2022. McCullagh attempted to cover up his involvement by broadcasting a six-hour Grand Theft Auto gaming video on YouTube, falsely presenting it as a live stream to create an alibi for the time of the murder.
The prosecution highlighted that McCullagh's claim of a live broadcast was a complete fabrication, and he repeatedly lied about it during the investigation. This deceptive tactic was central to the case, demonstrating a calculated effort to mislead authorities and evade justice.
Court Proceedings and Verdict
During the trial, evidence was presented showing the pre-recorded nature of the YouTube video, which contradicted McCullagh's alibi. The jury quickly reached a unanimous guilty verdict, reflecting the strength of the prosecution's case and the heinous nature of the crime.
This case has drawn significant attention due to its use of digital media in criminal deception, raising questions about the reliability of online content as evidence in legal proceedings.
