Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche stated on Sunday that there is a 'ton of evidence' suggesting the 2020 presidential election was rigged against President Donald Trump, yet he quickly conceded that he could not offer a 'definitive answer' regarding the validity of these claims or when federal officials might present proof.
Blanche's Remarks on Fox News
During an appearance on 'Sunday Morning Futures' on Fox News, Blanche, who previously served as Trump's criminal defense attorney, told host Maria Bartiromo: 'I'm not going to promise there's going to be a definitive answer. That wouldn't be fair to you or anybody else, but we are looking at it, and we're hoping to get one.' He referenced ongoing investigations in Georgia and Florida but admitted uncertainty about their outcomes.
'It takes a lot of work to uncover what happened in 2020,' Blanche added. 'It takes a lot of old, good-old-fashioned law enforcement, police work, which is what we're doing, and we have great prosecutors working on it as well, and I assure the American people that as soon as we have something to say for it — whether it's charges, whether it's a report, whether it's the results of an investigation — the American people will learn about what we uncovered.'
Lack of Evidence
To date, no credible evidence has emerged to support the claim that the 2020 election was rigged or that Trump was the rightful winner. The Trump campaign and its allies filed numerous legal challenges in states he lost to Joe Biden, but court cases, recounts, committee probes, and press investigations have all failed to substantiate the president's allegations.
Despite this, top administration officials continue to echo Trump's conspiracy theories. Unusual investigations are underway in multiple states, including Florida, Georgia, and Arizona, led by Trump loyalists seeking proof of election fraud six years after the contest.
Florida Investigation
In Florida, former Trump lawyer Joseph diGenova has been selected to lead a sprawling federal investigation reportedly premised on the idea that actions since 2016 constitute a 'grand conspiracy' by Democratic officials to keep Republicans out of power. The FBI has also seized election records in Arizona.
Georgia Raid
Earlier this year, the FBI raided an elections office in Georgia, a closely contested battleground state in 2020, based on a referral from election denier Kurt Olsen, who worked with Trump's campaign on 'Stop the Steal' efforts. However, the warrant for the search provided no additional evidence of fraud and noted that 'many allegations' had already been 'disproven.'
Elections law expert David Becker, director of the Center for Election Innovation & Research, commented at the time: 'After more than five years, dozens of court cases, and over a year in total control of the federal government, this is all they've got?'
Payback Squad
Reports also indicate that the FBI has assembled a 'payback squad' of agents willing to take on political cases to expose and discredit federal law enforcement officials who investigated Trump and his allies.
