Erika Kirk, the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, has thrown her support behind Republican Los Angeles mayoral hopeful Spencer Pratt, praising the former reality TV star in an X post on Thursday.
'Regardless of the outcome of Spencer Pratt's race, what he's doing is authentically American,' Kirk wrote. 'See a problem, become a part of the solution.'
Pratt, an alum of The Hills, the popular reality TV show following former cast members of Laguna Beach, lost his home in the 2025 Palisades fire. He has made that a focus of his campaign, along with Los Angeles's vast homeless problem.
'His campaign ads are unconventional, but that's the point; it's refreshing,' Kirk said. 'Instead of speaking like a career politician, he's speaking as an American who sees and deeply understands how fragile the simple things in life are when leadership fails,' she added.
Pratt is on the ballot alongside incumbent Democratic Mayor Karen Bass and a more progressive Democrat, Nithya Raman, a member of the LA City Council. If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote during the city's June 2 primary, the top two vote-getters, regardless of political party, will compete in a runoff in November.
While Pratt is running as a Republican, he has not embraced President Donald Trump's MAGA movement, which could be considered too extreme for voters in the traditionally liberal city. That did not stop Trump from reportedly mulling an endorsement of Pratt, according to a report from Naughty But Nice Substacker Rob Shuter over the weekend.
'Trump loves celebrity candidates, and Spencer knows exactly how to dominate headlines,' a Republican insider told Shuter. 'The idea of endorsing him has absolutely been discussed.'
The President expressed on Wednesday on the Joint Base Andrews tarmac that he wanted Pratt to do well. 'He's a character. I don't know - I don't know him, I assume he probably supports me. Does he support me?' Trump had been asked whether he saw himself in Pratt, given their shared reality-TV-star past. A reporter answered, 'I think so.'
'I heard he does. I heard he's a big MAGA person,' Trump said, adding, 'he's doing well.'
Pratt downplayed Trump's praise to TMZ. 'Everybody wants me to succeed because LA is the most important city in the country,' the former Hills star said. 'The only support I need is from moms that wanna feel safe in Los Angeles. I'm laser-focused on that.'
With the support of Kirk, a major figure in the conservative movement who took over the helm of Turning Point USA after her late husband's assassination last year, it will be hard for Pratt to distance himself from MAGA.
'This is what this country is all about,' she said. 'Citizens willing to step into the political arena, unafraid, and challenge a failing system, much like the one that has destroyed Los Angeles,' Kirk continued. 'I hope moments like this inspire more Americans to throw their names into the mix, run for office, get involved and stand up for what makes this country exceptional,' the Turning Point USA leader added.
