Jeremy Corbyn's Your Party is set to collaborate with the Green Party and other left-wing groups to launch a 'coordinated left-flank offensive' against Reform UK and Labour, according to sources. The move comes after Corbyn secured a decisive victory in internal elections, becoming the de facto leader of the fledgling party.
Corbyn-backed candidates won 14 of the 24 seats on the party's central executive committee, while rival Zarah Sultana's slate took seven, and three went to independents. Turnout was 61%, with 25,347 of 40,985 verified members voting. Corbyn said it was time for 'real work' to begin, aiming to unite the movement against 'the fear, divisiveness and racism of Reform'.
Sources close to Corbyn indicated he wants to rebuild bridges with pro-Gaza communities 'alienated' by Sultana, who had previously stated there was 'no place for social conservatives' in the party. 'Your Party will not view the Greens as enemies moving forward, or people to target,' a source said, adding that Corbyn believes in working together with other left-wing groups.
Despite the internal strife that has plagued Your Party since its launch eight months ago, Corbyn's camp expects support to grow. 'With the collapse in the traditional Labour vote, there are people who are pro-Gaza or who feel abandoned by Labour who are looking for a political home,' the source added.
Sultana's Grassroots Left slate, which advocated for 'maximum member democracy' and warned against 'Labour 2.0', conceded defeat but called for 'no more witch-hunts or stitch-ups' and demanded the reinstatement of expelled members. Sultana said she remained committed to building a 'socialist, anti-imperialist, anti-Zionist party' and had no intention of quitting.
