Romeo Beckham had a playful spot of teasing for his dad David as he joined the euphoric stars celebrating Arsenal's long-awaited Premier League title win. After years of falling short with three second place finishes in a row, fans of the Gunners celebrated on the streets of north London on Tuesday night, after they were named champions for the first time in 22 years.
It was a closely-fought race, but Manchester City handed Arsenal the title by failing to beat Bournemouth, and many stars joined Romeo taking to Instagram to celebrate. Despite his dad's history as a beloved player for Manchester United, Romeo has grown up an Arsenal fan, and after they secured the title, David revealed he received a late-night Facetime from his son. Posting a screenshot of the call, he wrote: '@romeobeckham, the moment Arsenal became champions and my son calls to remind me.'
Lily James and Gemma Chan also celebrated the victory by sharing snaps from their trip to the Emirates Stadium on Monday, where Arsenal beat Burnley 1-0. Gemma posted the snaps with the caption: 'Last home game of the season. North London forever.' Stacey Solomon shared a hilarious look at the reaction in her household, with an amusing video where her children could be heard excitedly chanting 'north London forever.' Lifelong Gunners fan Piers Morgan celebrated the victory by posting a snap of himself wearing an Arsenal shirt with champagne in hand.
Mikel Arteta's men have been runners-up in each of the last three seasons but finally overcame Pep Guardiola's team to be able to call themselves Kings of England. The Arsenal squad had gathered at their London Colney training base to watch Man City's clash with the Cherries in the hope they could be crowned champions. While the Gunners had kept those plans quiet, footage surfaced following the final whistle of the squad launching into celebrations after their triumph was confirmed.
Arsenal fans, meanwhile, gathered outside the Emirates Stadium in their thousands to toast their long-awaited success. Their legendary forward Ian Wright was among those at the centre of the celebrations outside the stadium. Romeo shared a snap of the moment he, and thousands of other Arsenal fans, learned their beloved team had been confirmed as champions. Paying homage to the club, Romeo showed off his Gunners-themed bow tie. He couldn't resist a chance to wind up Manchester City fans, by posing a snap of himself drinking a can of beer with the club's logo.
More glory could follow next week as they face Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the Champions League. Arsenal will pick up the Premier League trophy after Sunday's final game away at Crystal Palace, with tickets now gold dust for their most loyal fans. Arteta and his team have endured mockery over their 'second again' position as the Premier League's bridesmaids but that will now end with their first major trophy since the FA Cup won in his first season in charge in 2020. Their last team to win the Premier League was in 2004, when Thierry Henry and Co went unbeaten through the entire 38-game season.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, an Arsenal fan, wrote on social media: '22 long years for the Arsenal. But finally, we’re back where we belong. Champions!'
