Formula One legend and four-time world champion Alain Prost has reportedly been left injured following an alleged armed robbery at his Swiss home. The racing icon, who drove for Williams, McLaren, and Ferrari during his illustrious career, was reportedly physically attacked during the incident and sustained a head injury.
Details of the Incident
The 71-year-old, known as 'The Professor,' was assaulted at his residence in Nyon, on the shores of Lake Geneva. According to Swiss newspaper Blick, a gang of masked intruders forced their way into the family home on Tuesday, May 19, at around 8:30 am. The armed men allegedly threatened Prost's family and forced one member to open a safe, which was subsequently stripped of its contents.
It remains unclear what was stolen, but the report notes that Prost maintains close links to luxury watch manufacturers. The assailants are still at large, and neither Prost's family nor the brands involved have commented on the incident.
Growing Security Concerns
The robbery has raised questions about safety in the Lake Geneva area, with 18 robberies reported in 2025 alone. Authorities believe highly organized cross-border criminal groups have increasingly targeted wealthy residents, particularly owners of luxury watches and other high-value items.
Prost's Legacy
Prost held records for most podiums (106), most wins (51), and fastest laps (41) during his 13-year F1 career from 1980 to 1993. He was embroiled in a historic rivalry with the late Ayrton Senna. Prost shares the record for fourth-most Drivers' Championships with Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen, behind Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, and Juan Manuel Fangio.
Despite retiring over three decades ago, Prost remains invested in motor racing, supporting the next generation of drivers. He recently praised Red Bull Racing's Isack Hadjar, describing him as having an incredibly strong personality.
