A luxury car worth nearly £200,000 was wrecked by a furious mystery man in a golf club car park. The windows of the Aston Martin were smashed as the word 'CHEATER' was spray-painted across the bonnet. The incident occurred at Hampton Court Palace Golf Club in South West London on Monday.
Details of the attack
The man, wearing a baseball cap, was seen destroying the 2015 Vanquish. Video footage captured a man walking away from the vehicle, revealing the extent of the damage. Witnesses described seeing the masked man take a hammer from his rucksack before smashing the windows, lights, and tearing the roof open. The word 'CHEATER' was sprayed in white across the bonnet.
Vehicle details
The high-end car, which retails for up to £192,000 when new, is capable of reaching a top speed of 201 mph and accelerating from 0 to 52 mph in 3.6 seconds. After the damage, the car was declared a write-off. The vehicle had the personalised numberplate 'BD55 BOB'.
Police investigation
The Metropolitan Police said it was investigating the incident. Officers spoke to the witness and the owner of the car, who had been walking his dogs at the time. The force said: 'Police were called at around 14:00hrs on Monday, 25 May to reports of criminal damage to a vehicle at a sports club in Dillon Close, Molesey. Officers attended and searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect. No arrests have been made, and enquiries continue.'
