Emmerdale fans are convinced the fire starter has been exposed on the ITV soap, but they've been left divided over an apparent credits blunder that could reveal all.
Fans are wondering if a possible storyline leak is actually a massive red herring. A credits blunder in an episode from this week left many viewers convinced the ITV soap had made a mistake in giving away a crucial detail. That said, it has not stopped other fans from thinking it is not what it seems and suggesting there is more to it.
We know that a mystery arsonist is starting fires on Robert Sugden's farm. This week saw Ross Barton, Sam Dingle and Kammy Hadiq all face questions, and all sparking suspicions. But when the fire starter was shown in the opening of Thursday's episode, the game appeared to be given away. While the identity was not revealed onscreen, a credits clue may have exposed the truth.
Credits Clue Sparks Debate
We only saw a hooded figure in a black tracksuit and trainers, holding a lighter. But as the end credits for the episode aired, one character was named at the top of the list. Given the credits are listed in order of appearance, fans were certain the soap had just let slip the person starting the fires. This is because Kyle Winchester was the character noted at the top, and therefore suggested to be the person in the opening scene. This opening scene was the hooded fire starter, therefore suggesting it is Kyle. It is quite the mishap on Emmerdale's part, or is it?
Some fans have wondered if it was a red herring to throw us off, as others glossed over the credits completely. Many fans still believe Kyle is not the arsonist, and it is someone else.
Sadie King Under Suspicion
With Kammy under suspicion as well as returning character Kev Townsend, it is another returning character who is being blamed by several fans. Viewers are adamant it is Sadie King, who is returning to the show soon, who will be exposed as the culprit. If not Sadie, then someone linked to her. A fan said: "Look Emmerdale is tricking us they making us think it's Kyle even though it's Sadie who started the hay fire in Emmerdale Farm."
Another said: "Couldn't be maybe Sadie King child if it turns out she have one who would wreak havoc on village or maybe is she starting fires? Just too predictable if it's Kyle. Kev isn't back for Rob, so it isn't him either and they said we would be surprised/shocked." A third viewer simply responded: "Sadie King," which was echoed by a few other fans too. Other fans are certain it was Robert's ex Kev, but this has possibly been ruled out.
