Eva Longoria Wants Victoria Beckham as Non-Profit Ambassador
Eva Longoria Hopes Victoria Beckham Will Join Her Charity

Eva Longoria has expressed her desire for longtime friend Victoria Beckham to support her non-profit organisation. The 51-year-old actress serves as an honorary member of the Global Gift Gala, an annual event that raises funds for the Global Gift Foundation, a philanthropic organisation dedicated to aiding children, women, and families in need.

Eva's Appeal to Victoria

While attending the gala earlier this week in Cannes, the Desperate Housewives star told the Mirror that she would love for the 52-year-old fashion designer to become an ambassador. She said: 'I love Victoria, I would have loved for her to be here tonight in Cannes – but she always comes to our London gala, which always means the world to me. I would love for her to become an ambassador.'

Longoria, who is godmother to Victoria's 14-year-old daughter Harper, has been friends with the former Spice Girl since the mid-2000s, when the Beckhams relocated to Los Angeles. Eva has previously shared that their strong friendship includes sleepovers and transatlantic conversations.

Friendship and Fashion

Victoria also helped Eva design her wedding outfits for her 2016 marriage to Jose Antonio Baston. Eva, who chairs the Global Gift Gala, added: 'It's a really fabulous party, this charity is my life's work, helping women and children all over the world.'

Eva was the belle of the ball at the Cannes Film Festival's annual Global Gift Gala on Wednesday night. The Cannes regular wowed in a stunning black and white sequin halterneck dress, accessorised with glittering drop earrings, a matching necklace and bracelet, and towering platform heels.

Life Away from the US

Eva fled what she called a 'dystopian' United States two years ago and now resides mostly in Spain and Mexico, though she still makes trips back to the States when necessary. Born in Texas, she spent most of her adult life in California and retains dual US and Spanish citizenship.

She previously stated that she feels the American 'chapter in my life is done now' and no longer wants to live in Los Angeles due to the 'changing' atmosphere. Eva, who campaigned for Kamala Harris in the presidential election, first revealed her departure because she feared Donald Trump would 'keep his promises,' making the US a 'scary place.'

'I get to escape and go somewhere,' she told Marie Claire magazine in late 2024. 'Most Americans aren't so lucky. They're going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.'

Her departure came after Trump began filling key posts in his second administration, many of which were criticised. 'The shocking part is not that he won,' Eva said after Trump's 2024 victory. 'It's that a convicted criminal who spews so much hate could hold the highest office. I would like to think our fight continues... If he keeps his promises, it's going to be a scary place.'

Eva revealed that she and her family are content splitting their time between Mexico and Spain. She was granted the honorary title of 'Dame' in Spain in 2022, due to her ancestral ties to the city of Oviedo. Eva and Baston, who share seven-year-old son Santiago, purchased a six-bedroom, seven-bathroom villa in Marbella in early 2023 and have since added a home cinema, sauna, and gym.
