A former solicitor known for alleged dine-and-dash incidents has been sharing images of herself enjoying life at Disneyland Paris, despite being the subject of four active arrest warrants in the United Kingdom. Kerry Ann Stevens, 40, has failed to appear in court on at least nine occasions and is believed to be residing in the Lorraine region of northwestern France with a family member.
Background of the Case
Stevens, previously of Southend, Essex, was struck off as a lawyer after being convicted of failing to pay a £60 bill at a Harvester restaurant. She now faces 11 counts of leaving a restaurant or establishment without payment and one count of theft from a shop, all alleged to have occurred in 2024. She has denied the charges and is scheduled to stand trial next year.
Despite her legal troubles, Stevens recently posted a photograph on her Facebook page showing her at Disneyland Paris, wearing Mickey Mouse ears and holding a bubble wand. A family friend told the Mail that her family had pleaded with her to remain in the UK and face the courts, but she left nonetheless. “The police came looking for her again and her mum had to tell them she'd gone,” the friend said.
Alleged Partner in Crime
Stevens is also linked to Daniel Alani, who is accused of being her accomplice in several dine-and-dash incidents. The pair were first investigated in connection with an unpaid bill at The Castle Inn in Little Wakering, Essex. According to the landlord, Ken Todd, the pair allegedly consumed prawn cocktail, two roast chicken dinners with extra lamb, breaded mushrooms, orange juice, a glass of pinot wine, and two cokes before attempting to leave without paying. Todd remarked, “For the sake of £62, if they came in and were starving I'd just give them the food. The man tried to leave through the back door of the pub, which I had already locked and apparently the woman tried to escape by the bathroom window.”
Additionally, the duo is accused of trying to flee without settling a £127 bill at the Steve Yeung at The Pearl Dragon restaurant in Southend, where their meal allegedly included four starters, four main courses, and eight soft drinks. Alani pleaded guilty earlier this year to theft, theft from a shop, and eight counts of leaving without payment.
Police Appeal
Essex Police have issued a fresh appeal for information on Stevens’ whereabouts. A spokesperson described her as approximately 5ft 2ins tall, with blonde hair, and usually wearing large glasses. She has links to the Shoebury and Westcliff areas of Essex. The police urged anyone with information to contact them via their website, live chat service, or by calling 101.
