Fuel Spill Hits Trump-Backed Event on National Mall
Fuel Spill Hits Trump Event on National Mall

A fuel spill occurred on the National Mall last month during the Rededicate 250 event, which was organized by a group affiliated with the Trump administration. The spill, initially reported as over 30 gallons but disputed by an Interior Department official as being much lower, was caused by alleged vandalism where fuel lines for commercial generators were cut.

The leaked fuel seeped into underground water reservoirs that collect rainwater for irrigating the National Mall. Freedom 250, the event organizer, stated that they mobilized an immediate cleanup response and fully remediated the site in partnership with the National Park Service.

Despite the incident, the Rededicate 250 event continued as planned, featuring a video of Donald Trump and speeches from religious and government officials. The spill did not disrupt the festivities, and the National Mall remained accessible to the public.
