Ian Wright was accused of going 'full Salt Bae' as he got involved in Arsenal's on-pitch Premier League title celebrations. The former Arsenal striker, hugely popular among the current playing squad and staff, was fulfilling his punditry duties with Sky Sports when Gabriel Martinelli made a beeline for the 62-year-old and placed a medal around his neck.
Jokes on Air
'He's gone full Salt Bae!' Jamie Redknapp, also working for Sky, joked. 'Does he know he's working right now?' Micah Richards chimed in. 'Uncontrollable Ian!' The banter referenced the 2022 World Cup incident where influencer chef 'Salt Bae' (Nusret Gökçe) celebrated on the pitch with Argentina's players, kissing and holding the trophy, which led to a FIFA investigation.
Wright's Reaction
Wright, an ardent Arsenal supporter, was delighted to be included. 'Arsenal fans have been getting dragged for four years until Man City drew with Bournemouth,' he said. 'People have been drinking our tears... There's been banter and bottlers... Everything stops now. Everyone just has to hold it now.'
Arteta Praise
Wright boldly claimed that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is on the verge of becoming the club's greatest ever manager, surpassing Arsene Wenger. 'If Mikel Arteta can win the Champions League, he supersedes everybody. He will have done something no-one in our history has done before,' Wright stated.
