Gabrielle Carrington, a 29-year-old X Factor finalist accused of murdering influencer Klaudia Zakrzewska, is being held at HMP Bronzefield in Surrey, the same prison as serial killer Lucy Letby and Constance Marten. Carrington is on the induction wing under constant watch for her own safety, according to sources.
The prison, which houses 530 inmates, is described as “cushy” compared to other facilities, offering beauty courses, opera workshops, gyms, phone calls, and TVs. Carrington, a “standard” inmate, is expected to be moved to Unit 4, where high-profile vulnerable women like Letby and Marten are held, after her next court appearance.
Carrington is accused of running over Zakrzewska, 32, outside the Inca nightclub in Soho at around 4:30am on April 19. The influencer died six days later, leading to the charge being upgraded from attempted murder to murder. A 58-year-old man was also seriously injured in the incident.
A source told The Sun that Carrington has been a “model prisoner” and has kept her head down, engaging with staff without acting like a diva. The source added that she would be a target in other units due to her fame and wealth, but Unit 4 offers protection from attacks.
A spokesperson for Sodexo, which runs Bronzefield, declined to comment on individuals. Carrington is due to appear in court again as the case progresses.
