Megyn Kelly claimed that supporters of Donald Trump's Make America Great Again movement have dwindled to only a 'tiny group' of 'loyalists' who are similar to cult members.
The 55-year-old conservative commentator expressed astonishment at the rapid decline of MAGA on the Hodgetwins Podcast on Friday.
'MAGA is not what it was. MAGA is now this very, very small group of Trump diehard loyalists who have to love Mark Levin,' Kelly said. 'And so that's by definition an increasingly tiny group.'
Kelly, a former Fox News host, has been in an ongoing feud with Levin, a current host for the conservative network, during which she has suggested that he has a micro penis.
Trump has previously defended Levin, calling him a 'truly Great American Patriot' who was 'under siege by other people with far less intellect, capability, and love for our country.'
Before Kelly claimed MAGA was a shell of itself, she likened its supporters to share similar characteristics of cult followers.
The commentator did not directly call Trump voters cultists, claiming that it was 'disrespectful' but added that 'they do have the same kind of loyalty.'
'Where it's like 'In Trump We Trust' and he can do no wrong,' Kelly said. 'And I get that. You know, they've been burned by a lot of other politicians. They felt like Trump got them at a time when everybody was ignoring them.'
Trump's Supporters and the Iran Conflict
Kelly's comments were made shortly after Trump's 37 backed candidates went undefeated in the primary elections.
During the podcast, a Hodge Twin compared Trump to former president George W Bush over 'money he's made' and the 'new war he started' with Iran.
'It's stunning to me that the people who voted for the man who said over and over “No new wars,” [and] “No war with Iran, no Middle East wars” - and specifically over and over said “Iran” and also said “The Democrats are going to get us into a war with Iran” - that was not a small thing,' said Kelly.
'That was not a throwaway line. That was a massive part of his campaigning and his promising.'
She added that his followers immediately began supporting the war with Iran after the president claimed that they were on the verge of having a nuclear weapon.
'We all know that that's a lie. It's so obvious that's a lie to get us into this conflict. That they were not on the verge of developing a nuclear weapon,' the commentator added.
'You don't have to do a lot of factchecking to figure that out. Trump's own intelligence agency said they're not, they're nowhere close.'
Shift on Epstein Files
Kelly continued by noting that Trump's followers had also changed their tune on the Jeffrey Epstein files.
'It's been shocking to see the same group that's been like “We need answers on Epstein. There's a cabal that gets protected. You know, finally, Trump's going to get to the bottom of it,”' said the commentator.
'As soon as Trump shocked us all by coming out and saying, “Epstein, who cares about Epstein,” they all turned on, “Yeah, who cares?”'
'And there were guys like you, like me, and others like me. “No, we do still care that some of us do still care.”'
Congressman Thomas Massie of Kentucky, who relentlessly pushed for the release of the files, was defeated Tuesday by Trump's hand-picked challenger, Ed Gallrein.
The race amounted to a continuation of Trump's bitter revenge tour and underscored his unmatched power over the Republican Party, even as his personal popularity continued to dwindle during his second term.
