Mis-Teeq Reunites After 22 Years for Wembley Comeback Show
Mis-Teeq Reunites After 22 Years for Wembley Show

Huge UK girl group Mis-Teeq has reunited for the first time in 22 years after their split. The major pop group will take to London’s Wembley Arena in September for a comeback show to perform their hefty back catalogue of hits to fans who have been waiting for this reunion.

TV Performance Marks Return

R&B/garage girl group Mis-Teeq wowed fans on Britain's Got Talent, marking their first time on stage together in decades. The three-piece had a string of hits in the early noughties, including seven consecutive top ten hits in the UK, as well as success in the US and Australia before they broke up in 2005.

Following the split, resident rapper Alesha Dixon forged the most successful solo career, releasing four studio albums and becoming a reality TV judge on Britain’s Got Talent. It was on that very show where the trio—comprising Dixon, Sabrina Washington, and Su-Elise Nash—made their comeback performance with a medley of their biggest hits.

September Show and Anniversary

This week's performance marked the first time the three members had performed together since 2004, ahead of their September comeback show. The concert will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of their debut album Lickin’ on Both Sides. Their biggest song, 'Scandalous', even broke into the American music scene, peaking at number 11 on the US Billboard charts, boosted by its feature on the Catwoman movie soundtrack.

Not long after 'Scandalous' made waves across the pond, the band split. They officially announced their split in early 2005 after their record label Telstar Records went bust. The label entered bankruptcy proceedings shortly after taking on Victoria Beckham, who had received a huge advance but produced only one single before the label collapsed.

Fan Reactions and Tour Plans

Early reactions to the reunion have been positive, with fans rushing to comment on clips of their Britain’s Got Talent performance. One user said: “How do they all look even finer?” A second added: “These 3 beautiful women are age 45-47! Wow, just wow, older women rock.” A third added: “They look exactly the same, hardly aged!”

The reunion comes as a wave of early-2000s girl groups return to the spotlight, such as the Pussycat Dolls, who recently made their first televised appearance in over six years. Mis-Teeq is set to embark on a UK and European tour later this year, although plans for a North American reunion tour were scrapped due to weak ticket sales.

Other Girl Group Comebacks

Meanwhile, Australian pop group Bardot—formed during the debut season of Popstars—have continued their own comeback with a performance at London's Mighty Hoopla festival. They received an enthusiastic response from fans during their first public performance since disbanding in 2002.
