A mother and son have been sentenced to prison for deliberately forcing a motorist off the road in a revenge attack, after suspecting him of being involved in a bottling incident against a family member.
Details of the Incident
Hollie Dance, aged 50, pursued the victim's Peugeot from Southend to Basildon in her BMW during October 2022. She eventually forced him off the road, causing his vehicle to collide with a tree and ejecting him from the car.
Her son, Thomas Summers, 26, who was driving a hired Toyota, then rammed into the man and sent him into a bush, according to prosecutors.
Sentences Handed Down
The pair were jailed for four and five years respectively for their roles in the attack.
This incident highlights the serious consequences of vigilante actions on the road. The court heard that the attack was motivated by revenge, after the pair believed the victim had bottled a family member.
Both offenders will now serve significant prison terms for their reckless and dangerous behaviour.
