A 31-year-old woman has been charged with murder after her four-year-old daughter was found dead at a home west of Brisbane on Monday night. Emergency services were called to a property in Lowood around 11:10 pm, where the child was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation and Charges
Following an overnight investigation, Queensland Police confirmed they have charged the woman with one count of murder, classified as domestic violence against a child. She is scheduled to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon.
Other Children Present
Police reported that two other children, known to the woman, were inside the property at the time of the incident. Both were uninjured. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
Community Reaction
Queensland Premier David Crisafulli expressed his condolences to the child's family. "My reaction is one of deep sorrow, and it's just so deeply troubling, and I want to see a full and thorough investigation," he told reporters on Tuesday. "That community and the state will grieve at that, and they will feel that very deeply."
Forensic teams were seen setting up outside the property on Tuesday afternoon as the investigation continues.
