Heart-stopping video captured the moment two Navy jets collided midair during an air show in Idaho, forcing the pilots to eject and parachute to safety. The incident occurred on Sunday at Mountain Home Air Force Base during its annual Gunfighter Skies air show.
Collision and Ejection
Footage shared on social media shows the two aircraft colliding and tumbling through the sky before plummeting to the ground. Black smoke plumes rose from the crash site as the pilots descended under parachutes. The base went into lockdown shortly after 12:30 p.m., according to reports.
Air Force spokesperson Antwain Hanks confirmed the collision to the Idaho Statesman. An announcer at the air show stated, “We had four good parachutes.” He added, “The crews were able to eject. They’re located one mile south of where the smoke is. The parachutes came down.”
Emergency Response
Emergency services, including crash fire rescue teams, were dispatched to the pilots’ location. A follow-up announcement reiterated, “There were four good parachutes. That is always a positive in our world. If you are so inclined to take the time now to say a prayer.”
