Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby has suffered a significant setback in his bid for eligibility after an NCAA investigation into his gambling activities. On Tuesday, it was revealed that the NCAA denied the signal-caller's request for reinstatement for the 2026 season, even though he completed a 35-day inpatient rehabilitation program.
According to The Athletic, the Red Raiders star is expected to appeal the decision and has filed a separate lawsuit seeking a temporary injunction for the 2026 season. Sorsby voluntarily checked into a residential rehab facility for gambling addiction in April after it was discovered he had placed thousands of online bets on various sports.
The NCAA launched an investigation into his betting history because the organization strictly prohibits its athletes from wagering on collegiate and professional sports. More details are expected to follow as the case progresses.
