Singha Beer Heir Removed After Abuse Allegation

The heir to Thailand's Singha beer empire has been removed from his position in the family business after his younger brother accused him of sexual abuse. Sunit 'Pi' Scott was dismissed from all roles at Boonrawd Brewery, the parent company, following a public allegation by his brother Siranudh 'Psi' Scott.

In a Facebook video on 9 May, Siranudh Scott, a marine conservationist, alleged he was sexually assaulted multiple times during his teenage years by his brother. He claimed relatives were aware of the abuse, saying: 'Everyone in my family knows because they heard the tape where he admitted it.' The 28-year-old said he could no longer stay in a family that 'does not value my humanity'.

Boonrawd Brewery confirmed Sunit Scott's dismissal on Tuesday, with CEO Bhurit Bhirombhakdi posting a resignation letter online. In the letter, Sunit Scott resigned 'until the matter is clarified and conclusively proved'. He later denied the allegations in a video, calling them 'not true' and expressing distress that his brother believed otherwise.

The dispute widened after Sunit Scott's wife, Lapassalan 'Mild' Jiravechsoontornkul, shared evidence on Instagram amid a separate inheritance disagreement. Siranudh Scott, known as 'Thailand's Aquaman' for his conservation work, has gained recognition for swimming long distances to promote marine protection.
