ITV's This Morning kicked off on a celebratory note on Friday, May 29, as stand-in presenters Joel Dommett and Angela Scanlon opened the show with exciting baby news. The duo danced to The Supremes' 'Baby Love' before sharing that Joel and his wife Hannah Cooper had welcomed a baby boy.
Congratulations Live on Air
Opening the programme, Joel said: "Hello everybody and welcome to your Friday's This Morning." Angela then chimed in: "And congratulations are in order - nice music, do you get it? Joel and wife Hannah have welcomed a baby boy!" When asked how he was feeling, Joel admitted the ordeal left him emotional, confessing he "wants to cry."
Baby Announcement on Instagram
Joel and Hannah, who are already parents to toddler son Wilde, announced the arrival of their second child earlier this month on Instagram. Hannah shared a black-and-white photo of the newborn and revealed the distinctive name: Dutch Cooper-Dommett. She also opened up about the birth, writing: "Super late like his Father, super long like his Mother."
Fans and famous faces flooded the comments with congratulations. Presenter Davina McCall said: "Love love love ALL THE WAY xxxxx we are so happy for ALL OF YOU." Traitors star Paul Gorton added: "What a name! Congratulations." ITV star and grief therapist Zoe Clark-Coates also expressed: "Huge congratulations guys. So so happy for you all." Fans joined in, with one writing: "HUGE congrats to the cooper Dommetts big love to you all." Another said: "Yaaaaaay welcome to the world Dutch."
Previous Pregnancy Announcement
The couple had announced they were expecting a second child months earlier, with a caption reading: "Baby in mumma tummy" and adding: "Hard to keep secrets with a toddler around." Friends like Emily Atack reacted with excitement, writing: "WAHHHHHHH."
Babymoon Plans and Mum Guilt
In a previous interview with the Mirror, Hannah shared that they had planned a babymoon but ended up staying home, saying: "Joel and I were supposed to go on a babymoon last week and ended up… freaking out and staying home!" She also admitted to feeling anxious about having a second child, experiencing "mum guilt" and wondering "how do you navigate two?!" She added: "It's a whirlwind of emotions that you almost don't have time to think about - that's maybe a good thing." Reflecting on parenthood, she noted: "When you go on a first date with someone you think, 'Oh, are they hot, would I maybe marry them?' I don't think you really think about how they're going to be as parents. That's a massive one."
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
