A British classic car firm has collapsed into liquidation, delivering another significant setback for the UK motoring sector. Awesome Classic and Custom, a specialist in historic vehicle upholstery based in Cambridgeshire, has encountered financial difficulties after 27 years of trading.
The company, which first began operations in 1999, appointed liquidators on May 29, with the announcement published in the London Gazette in the early hours of June 3. David Gerard Kirk has been named as the liquidator, and a Resolution for Winding-Up order along with a Notice to Creditors have been posted online.
There has been no confirmation regarding potential redundancies at this stage. The firm has previously worked on pristine classics, including the Bentley MKVI and Porsche 911 Super Sport.
Creditor Notice and Company Details
The official statement read: "Creditors are required to prove their debts on or before June 30, 2026, by sending full details of their claims to the Liquidators at Kirks, 5 Barnfield Crescent, Exeter, EX1 1QT." It added: "Creditors must also, if so requested by the Liquidators, provide such further details or produce such documentary evidence as may appear to the Liquidators to be necessary."
Awesome Classic and Custom operates from Fen Road, Pidley in Cambridgeshire, approximately 20 minutes from Huntingdon. The company specialises in vehicle interiors, with a team available to restore and redesign upholstery on classic motors.
Services and Expertise
The firm stated they "proudly work with a wide range of classic, custom, vintage, sports, and kit car owners", guaranteeing a professional finish for every type of vehicle. Their services cover all interior elements, from armrests, headrests, and centre consoles to more tailored components.
The company can completely overhaul vehicle dashboards with an array of distinctive designs, utilising materials such as Alcantara, leather, or faux leather. Additionally, the business operates a leather repair and care centre, pledging to restore tired and worn leather interiors back to their former glory.
The company's leather repair experts say they will "clean and soften cracked and scratched surfaces" before applying fresh colours. Awesome Classic and Custom's expertise extends beyond cars, with the business also fitting new upholstery for campervans and motorhomes.
