New Video of Patriots' Vrabel and Ex-Reporter Russini on 2021 Boat Trip
Vrabel, Russini Seen in New 2021 Boat Trip Video

A newly emerged video has shed further light on the longstanding connection between New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and former NFL reporter Dianna Russini. The footage, obtained by TMZ, captures the pair during a private boat outing in Putnam County, Tennessee, in June 2021.

Details of the Boat Outing

The video shows Vrabel, 50, and Russini, 43, walking together along a dock before boarding a boat they had privately rented for two to three hours. At the time, Russini was pregnant with her first child and working for ESPN, covering the Tennessee Titans, where Vrabel was then head coach. The pair were dressed casually for the excursion.

According to TMZ, Vrabel posed for photos with employees at the boat rental company but requested they not share the images, stating he “wanted to enjoy a private weekend.” Russini reportedly declined to be photographed. The Independent has sought comment from representatives for both individuals.

Context of Recent Scrutiny

The resurfaced footage comes weeks after photos emerged of Vrabel and Russini holding hands and hugging at a luxury Arizona resort in March. Additional images later surfaced appearing to show the pair kissing at a New York City tavern in March 2020, months before Russini married Kevin Goldschmidt, with whom she has two sons. Vrabel has been married to his wife Jen since 1999, and they have two sons together.

Further pictures from 2024 also showed the two together at a casino. Following the release of these photos, Russini resigned from her position at The Athletic, where she closely covered Vrabel’s team. The New York Times, which owns The Athletic, is conducting an internal investigation into the matter.

Vrabel’s Response

Vrabel initially dismissed the allegations as “laughable” but later addressed the situation publicly in April 2026. Ahead of the NFL Draft, he announced he would skip part of the event to attend counseling. “I promised my family, this organization and this team that I was going to give them the best version of me,” he said on April 22. “In order to do so, I have committed to seeking counseling, starting this weekend.” He did not mention Russini or the photos directly. Neither party has publicly commented on the nature of their relationship.
