An X Factor finalist accused of killing an influencer outside a busy London nightspot is being held in the same prison as Lucy Letby and Constance Marten, according to reports.
Incident and Charges
Gabrielle Carrington, 29, is alleged to have run over Klaudia Zakrzewska, 32, outside the Inca nightclub in Soho. The influencer later died from her injuries. Carrington initially faced charges including attempted murder, grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm, and drink-driving. Following Zakrzewska's death six days later, the charge was upgraded to murder. A 58-year-old man also suffered serious injuries in the same incident.
Detention at HMP Bronzefield
Carrington is being held on the induction wing at HMP Bronzefield in Surrey, a facility described as “cushy” compared to other prisons. Inmates there have access to beauty courses, opera workshops, gyms, phone calls, and televisions with DVD players. A source told The Sun: “She is very lucky to have been put in Bronzefield as it is pretty cushy compared to other prisons and inmates there are better protected.”
The source added that Carrington is under constant watch for her own safety, as she would be a target due to her fame, wealth, looks, and social media profile. She is expected to be moved to Unit 4, where high-profile inmates like Lucy Letby and Constance Marten are held, after her next court appearance. This unit is described as a place of safety for vulnerable or famous prisoners.
Prison Conditions and Other Inmates
HMP Bronzefield houses 530 prisoners and is run by the private company Sodexo. A spokesperson declined to comment on individual cases. Other notable inmates include Constance Marten, who was convicted of causing her daughter's death via gross negligence after a high-profile disappearance case.
Carrington has reportedly been a model prisoner, keeping a low profile and engaging with staff without any diva-like behaviour. She is classified as a “standard” inmate.
The case continues to develop as Carrington awaits her next court appearance.
