The 10 most popular baby names in 2025 have been revealed, with Liam and Olivia topping the charts for the seventh consecutive year. The Social Security Administration (SSA) compiles its annual list using Social Security card applications for children born in the US, where 3.6 million births were recorded last year.

Top Boys' Names

For boys, Noah, Oliver, Theodore, and Henry rounded out the top five, followed by James, Elijah, Mateo, William, and Lucas. The top four names held their positions from the previous year.

Top Girls' Names

Among girls, Charlotte climbed to second place, ending Emma's six-year run as runner-up. Emma, Amelia, and Sophia completed the top five, with Mia, Isabella, Evelyn, Sofia, and Eliana also making the list. Ava dropped out of the top 10, replaced by Eliana, which debuted at No. 10.

Beyond the top 10, the fastest-rising baby names of 2025 reflect growing interest in unique spellings, multicultural influences, and modern-sounding names.

Boys

Kasai saw the biggest jump, soaring 1,108 spots to enter the top 1,000 for the first time at No. 639. The name has roots in Japanese and Swahili, often meaning 'fire.' Akari, of Japanese origin meaning 'light' or 'brightness,' ranked second, followed by Eziah, Jasai, and Neithan.

Girls

Klarity topped the fastest-growing list, a contemporary spelling of 'clarity' reflecting virtue-inspired names with creative spellings. Rynlee, Ailanny, Naylani, and Madisson rounded out the top five, highlighting a preference for melodic names and alternative spellings.

Declining Names

BabyCenter's analysis of names with steepest declines since 2024 includes Charleigh, McKinley, Prisha, Ezra, Sasha, Mía, Kenna, Kori, Dior, and Shaikha for girls. For boys, Kylian, Atharv, Enoch, Crue, Huxley, Salman, Camilo, Advik, Emmitt, and Garrett have declined significantly, with Huxley dropping 296 spots and Charleigh tumbling 421 spots.
