Tyson Fury has questioned Anthony Joshua’s resilience after watching Daniel Dubois stop Fabio Wardley in the 11th round on Saturday, suggesting that Joshua’s chin may be a weakness.
Dubois’s Victory Over Wardley
Daniel Dubois secured the WBO heavyweight title by defeating Fabio Wardley via stoppage in the 11th round, having climbed off the canvas twice during the bout. The victory solidified Dubois’s status as a top heavyweight contender.
Fury’s Observations
Following the fight, Fury highlighted a notable detail: Dubois has not managed to knock down other opponents such as Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, Oleksandr Usyk, or Wardley, despite landing significant punches. However, in his 2024 clash against Joshua, Dubois dropped him five times. Fury implied that Joshua has a weak chin by branding him “chinny”, though he clarified he was not calling him “chinless”.
“It’s interesting that Dubois couldn’t put down Miller, Hrgovic, Usyk, or Wardley, but he had Joshua on the deck five times,” Fury said. “That tells you something about Joshua’s chin.”
Upcoming Fights
Both Fury and Joshua are contracted to fight each other later this year. Joshua is scheduled to face Kristian Prenga on 25 July, while Fury also plans a warm-up bout before their anticipated autumn clash at Wembley Stadium. Fury’s comments may add extra intrigue to their eventual showdown.
