Swinney reiterated his commitment to pursuing a second independence referendum, despite the SNP not achieving an overall majority in the recent Holyrood election. He highlighted that the election returned the "largest ever" number of pro-independence MSPs, including 15 Scottish Greens, providing a mandate for a future independence vote.
Collaboration Across Parties
Swinney also stressed his willingness to collaborate with other parties in Parliament to implement policies that will improve the lives of people in Scotland. He stated, "I am ready to get on with the job and deliver for Scotland."
