Live updates: Ukraine-Russia war latest
Kyiv is under a major attack as Russia continues its deadly assault, involving over 800 drones and missiles. Ballistic missiles and drones are heading for the Ukrainian capital, as President Zelensky warns the Kremlin is trying to ‘overload’ air defences.
At least four people have been injured after Russia attacked Kyiv in a mass drone and missile attack in the early hours today, officials confirmed. The overnight strikes followed one of Vladimir Putin’s worst daytime aerial assaults on Ukraine since the war began, which involved more than 800 drones as well as missiles.
Russia was attacking the Ukrainian capital with ballistic missiles and drones, according to Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv's military administration. Damage was recorded across six districts. In the Darnytsia district, a residential building partially collapsed, and people are reportedly buried under the rubble, officials said.
Yesterday, President Zelensky stated that Russia was trying to “overload [our] air defences.” He added, “Our soldiers are defending Ukraine.”
In a speech last weekend, Vladimir Putin claimed that his invasion of Ukraine was “coming to an end.” US President Donald Trump echoed him on Tuesday, expressing belief that Moscow and Kyiv would soon reach a deal to end the fighting.
