A double murder investigation has been launched after a man and a woman were found dead with knife injuries at two separate addresses in Westminster, London.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed on Friday that the deaths are being treated as linked. A 45-year-old woman was discovered at a property in Ashbridge Street on Thursday night, and a 59-year-old man was found dead in the early hours of Friday at a property in nearby Jerome Crescent.
Police have informed the man's relatives, who are receiving specialist support. Crime scenes remain in place at both locations, and additional police resources and patrols have been deployed in the area.
Detective Chief Superintendent Owain Richards, Westminster Police Commander, said: 'We know that local residents will be shocked and troubled by this news.' Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, leading the homicide inquiry, added: 'At this early stage we are retaining an open mind concerning motive, but at this stage we are treating these crimes as linked.'
