Peep Show star Matt King has taken to social media to share a health update with fans, just days after revealing he suffered a stroke. The 58-year-old actor, best known for playing Super Hans in the cult sitcom, disclosed the news last week.
Health Update After Stroke
In an alarming update on April 30, King told fans he had been left paralysed due to the medical condition, describing his legs as feeling like "jelly." A week on, the star remains in hospital recovering but remains optimistic. He posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he had suffered a stroke caused by a clot.
Addressing his 46,000 followers, King wrote: "Right now, recovering in hospital from a stupid stroke, I've ordered a Subway club from Uber Eats and I'm monging out to some Mazzy Star." He added: "Seriously though, they should find a f**king cure. Thanks for the ongoing love."
Fan Support and Messages
His post was quickly flooded with supportive messages. One fan said: "I commend your excellent taste in subs and music and wish you a speedy recovery." Another wrote: "Speedy recovery! I'm watching Peep Show right this minute and the joy your character brings is endless." A third added: "You are a special person who has brought so much joy and fun to this life we all live. You will recover and continue to be a gem of a man."
King previously explained he was being treated at The Royal Sussex County Hospital after the incident over the weekend. Sharing a picture of himself in a hospital bed with a stuffed teddy, he wrote: "It's true. I had a rare stroke of the spinal cord on Sunday. I was paralysed but rushed to The Royal Sussex and the staff have been amazing. Can walk again, a bit. My legs were jelly, man. It didn't feel f**king brilliant. Thank you for all the love and kindness."
Support from Co-Stars
His former Peep Show co-star Vera Graziadei, who played Elena, asked fans to pray for him. On Instagram, she said: "Peeples, let's send some prayers and love to our dear friend and brilliant actor and human – Matt @thatmattkingfella who needs it now. Health issue so send your love and support to him!"
King replied: "Thank you to my beautiful and amazing friend @vera.graziadei for her kindness and words. I'm doing okay. They will rebuild me, at a cost of exactly six million dollars. I should get some sort of nickname out of that. Thanks for all the love. MK."
Peep Show Legacy
King portrayed Super Hans for 12 years in Peep Show, the sitcom following flatmates Mark Corrigan (David Mitchell) and Jez Usbourne (Robert Webb), which aired for nine series between 2003 and 2015. He also performed as the character during DJ sets across the country after the show ended.
