Donald Trump has shared a clip from the debut of 'Saturday Night Live UK' on his social media platform Truth Social, featuring a sketch that mocks Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The former US president, known for his criticism of the original NBC series, posted the video without a caption.
The cold open depicts Starmer, played by cast member George Fouracres, nervously attempting to call Trump. 'Golly! What if Donald shouts at me? What do I say, Lammy?' he asks, before hanging up at the sound of Trump's voice. 'Oh sod that scary, scary, wonderful president! Why is he so difficult to talk to?'
In the edited version shared by Trump, the sketch ends before Starmer takes a stand. The full skit includes Starmer leaving a voice note for Trump, referencing the TV show 'Friends': 'Most importantly, remember the one where Ross and Rachel were on a break? I think perhaps that’s what we need.' He adds, 'Not forever, just until you’ve got all this war out of your system. Listen, we want different things. I know how badly you want to start World War III, and that’s great. You should absolutely do that, but we can’t be a part of it. You can however use the naval bases whenever you want.'
Trump has frequently criticised the US version of 'Saturday Night Live', where he is often portrayed by James Austin Johnson. The UK spin-off premiered this weekend on a yet-unnamed network.
