Casemiro's Emotional Farewell: 'Manchester Will Forever Be My Home'
Casemiro: 'Manchester Will Forever Be My Home' After Farewell

Casemiro has declared that Manchester will 'forever be his home' after an emotional farewell at Old Trafford. The 34-year-old Brazil captain played his final home game for Manchester United on Sunday, as the Red Devils secured a 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest, clinching third place in the Premier League.

A Standing Ovation

In the second half, manager Michael Carrick substituted Casemiro, allowing the midfielder to receive a standing ovation from the United faithful. After the match, Casemiro stood on the pitch with his family, addressing the supporters and thanking them for their unwavering backing since his £60 million move from Real Madrid in August 2022.

Social Media Tribute

Later, Casemiro took to social media to express his gratitude. He wrote: "There are places we pass through in life… and there are places that become part of who we are. Manchester will forever be my home. To the city, the club, and every supporter, my sincerest thank you. These past four years have been unforgettable, filled with moments my family and I will carry with us for the rest of our lives. There simply aren't enough words to describe the happiness and warmth we've felt here. Thank you for every cheer, every memory, and for making us feel at home from the very first day. Forever a Red Devil."

Trophy Success and Form

Casemiro leaves United having won two trophies: the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup. His arrival under Erik ten Hag revitalised the team's 2022-23 season. Although he experienced ups and downs in his second and third campaigns, he has been outstanding this term, contributing nine goals.

Manager's Praise

Carrick praised Casemiro before the Forest match, saying: "I think he's been fantastic for us, for me personally, for us as a group. I think what he's given us, I've said it before, I think the clarity helps of knowing the situation, and for him to get his head in a place of where you give absolutely everything for every aspect, knowing that it was going to come to an end at the end of the season. It's credit to him for the way he's gone about that. He's fully invested, he's fully supported us, the staff, with the performances that he's given. He's obviously had some ups and downs just like we all have in football, but to finish so strongly and to see that connection that he's got with the supporters, it's really good to see."

Next Move Uncertain

Casemiro has not yet confirmed his next destination. MLS side Inter Miami have expressed interest in signing him on a free transfer.
