Hearn Slams White as 'Clout Chaser' Over Fury-Joshua

Eddie Hearn has branded Dana White a clout chaser following the claim that White will be installed as the lead promoter for the blockbuster showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. Joshua's long-time promoter, Hearn, suggested that the British champion is targeting a summer return, with July still viewed as a realistic date.

Joshua's Comeback Plans

Joshua had been expected to fight earlier this year after his brutal knockout of Jake Paul in December, but those plans were derailed when he was involved in a serious car crash just days later. The Briton has since been rebuilding behind closed doors, spending recent months training alongside former rival-turned-friend Oleksandr Usyk. He made his first public UK appearance since the accident earlier this month, attending Derek Chisora's clash with Deontay Wilder as he continues his push toward a full comeback.

Fury's Call-Out

Joshua was back in the spotlight, sitting ringside for Fury's win over Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham. After the Gypsy King cruised past the Russian in a one-sided affair, he wasted no time calling for a showdown with Anthony Joshua. Their contracted mega-fight will go ahead only if both men come through their warm-ups, with Joshua first set to face Kristian Prenga on July 25.

White's Claim and Hearn's Response

Long-time promoters Hearn and Frank Warren are expected to represent their respective fighters as usual. However, Dana White has claimed he has been placed in charge of promoting the event—a move that has already stirred tension behind the scenes. White stated: "This is the busiest year of my career. I'm gonna be traveling everywhere. I'm focused on Zuffa Boxing hardcore this year, signing all these guys and putting on great fights. We did a deal with Sky in the UK. There will be great fights on Sky. I'm doing the Tyson Fury - AJ fight, too. I'm gonna be promoting that."

Hearn responded by calling White a "clout chaser" and stating: "Not a chance and contractually impossible. Let me know when you find your balls."

Event Details

A date and venue for the commercial blockbuster are still to be confirmed, but the showdown will be bankrolled by Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh and streamed live on Netflix.
