Wayne and Coleen Rooney's son Kai, 16, has been showing off his changing physique as he prepares for his football future. The Manchester United youth team star shared snaps from a gym session on his Instagram Stories, revealing his progress after being ruled out for the season due to injury.
Kai had recently made his debut for the Red Devils' under-18s team before his setback. He wrote at the time: 'Disappointed to be out for the rest of the season. Back stronger next pre-season.' He will be hoping for a breakthrough season, with next summer marking his eligibility for his first professional contract.
Fans online were amazed by his transformation. One user on X said: 'Damn how did we get from this to that in 3 months, this kid wants to oppress defenders like his father did.' Kai signed with Triple S Sports in March, an agency owned by Paul Stretford, who secured Wayne's signature when he starred for Everton aged 17.
Kai could write his name into Manchester United history as their youngest Premier League player, beating Shola Shoretire's record of 17 years and 19 days. He could also surpass his dad's 24-year-old record, as Wayne burst onto the scene with Everton at 16 years and 297 days old.
Parents Coleen and Wayne regularly watch from the stands to cheer on Kai. Coleen previously revealed they struggle to go incognito, saying: 'Kai told Wayne to stop coming to football games when he played grassroots tournaments... he used to get swarmed.'
