Jeremie Frimpong suffered another injury setback on Tuesday, adding to Liverpool's growing injury list. The 25-year-old right-back, who joined from Bayer Leverkusen for £29.5 million, had already missed 19 games this season due to various injuries.
Frimpong came on as a substitute at half-time during the Netherlands' 1-1 draw with Ecuador but lasted only 13 minutes before pulling up and being forced off. Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman said: "That was a real setback. We had to take him off."
It is feared Frimpong has suffered his fourth different hamstring injury since joining Liverpool. With Conor Bradley and Wataru Endo also out long-term, midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has been used at right-back.
Frimpong faces a race to be fit for Saturday's FA Cup clash with Manchester City, followed by a Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain next Wednesday. Liverpool then host Fulham in the Premier League on April 11.
Liverpool sit fifth in the table, five points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa. Injuries have hampered their title defence, with Mo Salah, Alexander Isak, Alisson, Federico Chiesa, Giovanni Leoni, and Stefan Bajcetic also sidelined.
