Rory McIlroy is facing a foot issue as he prepares for the US PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club in Philadelphia. The Masters champion has been struggling with a blister on the small toe of his right foot since last week's Truist Championship, and reports indicate he has also torn the nail off that toe.
Practice Round Concerns
During his first practice round on Monday, McIlroy was seen limping and even removed his shoe to assess the problem. He cut his practice round short after a few holes but had already completed extensive range and short-game work earlier. Despite the setback, the 37-year-old appeared in good spirits when addressing the media on Tuesday morning.
Major Ambitions
McIlroy is aiming to win back-to-back majors after his recent Masters triumph. He is scheduled to tee off on Thursday at 8:40 AM local time alongside Jon Rahm and Jordan Spieth. Reflecting on his form, McIlroy said, 'Coming into this tournament feels a lot different than what it did last year. I feel like I've got some nice clear road ahead to try to get some more of these majors.'
The Northern Irishman will be hoping the foot problem does not hinder his quest for a seventh major title. Fans and analysts will be watching closely as he takes to the course this week.
