Moto GP Halted After Alex Marquez's Brutal Crash

The latest race in the Moto GP season was brought to a dramatic halt after a severe crash involving Spanish rider Alex Marquez, who required an airlift to hospital. The incident occurred during the Catalunya Grand Prix when Marquez collided with race leader Pedro Acosta after 12 of the scheduled 24 laps.

Details of the Crash

Acosta's bike lost power on the straight, and he attempted to warn trailing riders. However, Marquez had insufficient time to react and slammed into the rear of the KTM. The impact sent both Marquez and his bike hurtling towards the wall before cartwheeling through the air. Paramedics immediately attended to Marquez, prompting race officials to display the red flag and halt proceedings.

Race Restart and Further Incidents

After a delay, the race was eventually restarted. However, the drama continued as former Moto2 champion Johann Zarco crashed and was also taken to hospital, leading to a second red flag. Fabio di Giannantonio, who had been struck by debris during the initial crash, managed to recover and ultimately secured victory.
