Police in Nichols Hills, Oklahoma, are investigating a burglary at a home believed to belong to Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, which occurred while the reigning NBA MVP was playing a game on Thursday evening.

Officers responded to a report of a break-in at the residence around 7.45pm, during the Thunder's home game against the Washington Wizards. Local news footage showed police at the property. The suspects had fled before officers arrived, and police said there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Police have not confirmed the homeowner's identity or disclosed what, if anything, was stolen. The Thunder referred inquiries to Nichols Hills police, who declined to provide further details.

The incident mirrors a recent spate of burglaries targeting high-profile US athletes, including NFL stars Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Joe Burrow, NBA player Luka Dončić, and NHL player Evgeni Malkin. Thieves often strike on game days when players are known to be away, typically entering through rear windows.

In November 2024, the NBA issued a memo to teams urging players to enhance home security, recommending alarm systems with cameras, secure safes for valuables, removal of online property listings showing interiors, use of guard services during extended absences, and even guard dogs.
