Scott Parker has left his role as Burnley head coach by mutual consent following the club's relegation from the Premier League. The decision was confirmed after discussions with chairman Alan Pace, with Parker's assistant Mike Jackson taking interim charge for the final four games of the season.
Parker, 45, guided Burnley back to the Premier League at the first attempt last season, amassing 100 points and setting a club record 33-game unbeaten run. However, the team struggled in the top flight, winning only four of 34 matches and conceding 68 goals, the most in the division.
In a statement, Parker expressed pride in the club's achievements, particularly the promotion campaign, and thanked the board, staff, players, and fans. Burnley's board acknowledged his professionalism and contribution, and have begun the search for a permanent successor.
Wales manager Craig Bellamy, a former Burnley coach under Vincent Kompany, has been linked with the role. Jackson's first match in interim charge will be at Leeds on Friday.
