Top 20 iconic football celebrations ranked: Ronaldo's 'Siu' and Crouch's robot dance lead fan poll

A new fan poll has ranked the most iconic football celebrations of all time, with Cristiano Ronaldo's 'Siu' and Peter Crouch's robot dance topping the list. The survey of 2,000 football fans, conducted by OLBG, placed Paul Gascoigne's 'dentist chair' celebration from Euro '96 in the top 20, alongside Lionel Messi's shirt-waving tribute at the Bernabéu.

Peter Crouch's robot dance was voted the number one celebration, followed by Ronaldo's 'Siu' in second place. Lionel Messi's celebration of his 500th Barcelona goal, where he held up his shirt to Real Madrid fans, secured third. Other notable entries include Roger Milla's flagpole dance at Italia '90 and Jürgen Klinsmann's theatrical dive in 1994.

The research, carried out by OnePoll, found that 83% of fans believe celebrations inspire younger supporters, while 82% think they boost team morale. One in five respondents have tried recreating famous celebrations themselves, with Ronaldo's 'Siu' and Cole Palmer's 'It's Cold' gesture being the most popular choices among amateurs.

Jake Ashton, football editor for OLBG, said: 'Football celebrations are one of the best things about the game. These stand-out moments of joy give us something to talk about away from the match highlights.' He added that the introduction of VAR has led to more cautious celebrations, but urged players not to let that stop them.
