Mum Gives Birth to Twins in BMW Footwell, Calls It Easiest Birth
Twins Born in BMW Footwell: Mum Says It Was Easy

A mother from Derbyshire has given birth to twins in the footwell of her partner's BMW X3 while en route to hospital, describing the experience as her easiest delivery.

Unexpected Labour

Chloe Weston, 28, from Swadlincote, was taken by surprise when her waters broke on November 14, 2025, at 3:30pm, seven days before her planned caesarean section. The stay-at-home mum, who is also mother to Jacob, six, and Leo, two, had discovered she was carrying twins in March 2025 and had scheduled a caesarean due to the babies being in breech and transverse positions.

After returning from a hospital appointment, Chloe's waters broke just as she stepped through her front door. She quickly packed a hospital bag and set off for Queen's Hospital Burton with her partner, Adrian Bradbury, 33.

Race Against Time

However, the couple became trapped in congestion on the A38 in Willington as Chloe's contractions intensified. Realising she would not make it to the hospital in time, Adrian, a security officer, pulled over the vehicle. Within 20 minutes of contractions starting, Chloe delivered twin boys, Koah and Kyro, just a minute apart.

Chloe recalled: 'I gave birth to one twin by the time we had pulled over, but he fell in the footwell. By the time my partner came back with the police, I had given birth to the other twin. It only took about 30 minutes from when my contractions started.'

Community Support

While waiting for an ambulance, a local resident from Burton upon Trent came out and donated pink blankets to keep the newborns warm. Chloe managed to track down the resident on Facebook later to express her gratitude.

Koah weighed 6lbs 4oz and Kyro weighed 5lbs 2oz. The twins were taken to hospital, where Kyro spent two days in the intensive care unit due to low blood sugar, while Koah was healthy. Chloe remained in hospital for a week and was discharged the day before her originally scheduled caesarean date.

Reflection on the Birth

Despite the unusual circumstances, Chloe describes the birth as her easiest. 'I was absolutely dreading it, but the experience was completely different with the twins, and it was pretty much the easiest. If I were to have another child, I'd happily be in the car all over again,' she said.

Now five months old, the twins are doing well, and Chloe continues to reflect on the whirlwind event with a sense of disbelief but also relief.
