Anthony Joshua has enlisted the help of Oleksandr Usyk over the last few months, with the Ukrainian set to play a major role in the Brit's showdown with Tyson Fury. The pair have built a notable friendship since their two ring encounters, with Usyk winning both fights on points.
Joshua's Comeback and Tragedy
Last year, Joshua joined Usyk's team for his fight against Jake Paul, stopping the novice in the sixth round. Days later, Joshua was involved in a tragic car crash in Nigeria that killed close friends Sina Ghami and Latif 'Latz' Ayodele. Despite the tragedy, Joshua has found comfort training with Usyk in Spain and will return to the ring against Kristian Prenga on July 25 before facing Fury.
Usyk's Confidence in Joshua
Usyk insists Joshua's hunger remains strong. He told Metro: "Anthony is working very hard. I see his focus, his discipline, and big motivation. He is not finished — he still has a lot of fire." Usyk is confident Joshua can defeat Fury and plans to help him prepare. "My friend AJ can win this fight. I believe in him. AJ has everything to win. And from our side, my team and I will help him with his preparation," Usyk said.
Fury's Plans
Fury, who lost twice to Usyk, is also seeking a warm-up fight after his April win over Arslanbek Makhmudov. He plans three fights this year, with the Joshua bout expected in October or November. "It's just a run out for me to get sharper for the big one," Fury said.
