Wrexham AFC have vowed to ban supporters found guilty of sexist and misogynistic comments directed at their Women's team following their historic Welsh top-flight title triumph last weekend.
The club issued a statement after players were subjected to abusive remarks on social media following Sunday's 4-1 victory over Cardiff City at the SToK Cae Ras. The win secured Wrexham's first Welsh Premier Women's League title and a place in next season's Champions League qualifying phase.
“We are aware of sexist and misogynistic comments shared online following the match. Let us be clear: such views have no place in football, in our club, or in society,” the club said. “They do not represent who we are, what we stand for, or the overwhelming support behind this team.”
Wrexham added that they will not tolerate discrimination and will ban any identified individuals from all club sites. The Genero Adran Leagues also condemned the abuse, describing it as “appalling” and noting that Sunday's fixture was the season's highest-attended game.
