Carol Vorderman's rare family snap and 2025 joy

Beloved television presenter Carol Vorderman has offered her followers a heartwarming and rare glimpse into her family life, sharing a candid snap with her two children as she reflected on a year of profound personal and professional joy.

A Rare Family Moment Shared

On Thursday, the 65-year-old former Countdown star took to Instagram to post a selfie with her lookalike daughter Katie, 34, and son Cameron, 28. The image, marking her first post of the new year, showed a beaming Vorderman posing alongside her children, whom she shares with ex-husband Patrick King.

In the sweet photograph, Carol wore a blue and white jumper accessorised with a chunky bejewelled necklace. Katie opted for a relaxed grey woollen jumper over a black T-shirt, while Cameron sported a simple olive green T-shirt.

Alongside the image, Vorderman penned an emotional caption, writing: "I rarely show pics of my children as you know, but I’m sitting here at the beginning of 2026 and thinking of the extreme joy to come this year, and just how bloody lucky I am because not only do we each love the other... But we really like each other too."

Pride in Her Children's Success

The proud mother went on to detail the specific reasons for her joy, highlighting her children's impressive accomplishments in 2025. She revealed that her daughter Katie runs a space pharmaceuticals company named Bio Orbit, which is preparing for a major rocket launch in the summer. Katie has also been winning European and global awards for her work.

Of her son, Carol wrote affectionately: "And Cam and I muddle along so happily at home in Bristol. He’s doing brilliantly too but in a completely different sphere of work to Katie." She expressed gratitude that the past year had brought her extended family even closer together on holidays and other occasions.

Honorary Doctorate Amid Health Battle

This family celebration comes on the heels of a significant personal honour for Vorderman. She was recently made an Honorary Doctor of Science by Swansea University, recognised for her services to broadcasting and STEM education.

The mother-of-two collected her scroll wearing a tweed brown dress, gown, and mortarboard. In her acceptance speech, she connected the honour to her own recent health struggles, having been struck with "suddenly and chronically debilitating rheumatoid arthritis" almost a year ago.

"It's taken a long time to get the meds right, so I no longer take my health for granted in any way," she told the audience. Her connection with the university is long-standing, having founded the Carol Vorderman Maths Access Bursary, which awards £2,000 grants to pupils to support their studies.

Reflecting on the honour, she said: "It's a privilege to be honoured by Swansea University... It has brought me great joy to support mathematics students at Swansea through giving bursaries." She also praised the younger generation as "bright, hardworking, talented, curious, creative, tolerant, and kind."

As she looks ahead to 2026, Carol Vorderman is planning parties, holidays, and a lot of fun, buoyed by the love of her family and the successes of the year gone by.
