Wu Yize Wins World Snooker Championship in Dramatic Final

Wu Yize has become China's second world champion after defeating Shaun Murphy in a thrilling final frame decider at the Crucible. The 22-year-old showed remarkable composure to clinch victory with a break of 85 in the deciding frame, securing the World Snooker Championship title.

In a match that will be remembered as one of the best in Crucible history, the pair traded blows throughout the final session. Wu had his chances earlier, including missing a black off its spot when leading 17-16. However, he demonstrated great bravery in the decider, potting a tough red to the middle pocket before sealing the win.

During his post-match interview, Wu paid tribute to his parents through a translator, saying: 'My parents are the true champions. Since I made the decision to drop out of school, my Dad has been by my side, my mum has also gone through a lot over the years. They are the source of my strength, I love them so much.'

Murphy, gracious in defeat, congratulated Wu and his family, adding: 'I hate being right, I said earlier in the season that he would be world champion one day. It’s a real shame it was today, but I couldn't have tried harder. I played the best shots I could and didn't get my chance.'

The final session saw momentum swing repeatedly. Murphy produced a stunning 131 clearance to level at 15-15, while Wu edged ahead at 16-15. After Murphy forced a decider with a clearance from 43-0 down, Wu held his nerve in the final frame to secure victory.
