Zac Lomax and his partner Kayla Green have announced they are expecting a baby via Instagram. The former Parramatta Eel and Green posted a heartwarming video on the social media platform, featuring a short clip of their ultrasound where the baby's heartbeat could be heard. The video then cuts to the couple sitting by a stunning sunset, enjoying a cake with the words 'baby Lomax' written on top. They cut the cake using two champagne flutes to reveal blue coloring inside, confirming they are having a baby boy.
Gender Reveal Celebration
As part of the announcement video, the couple had a cake with 'baby Lomax' written on it, which later served as the gender reveal. Kayla screeched with joy at the reveal, and the two broke into laughter. This good news comes as a tonic for Lomax after a difficult year.
Contract Dispute Background
Lomax, 26, was part of a high-profile court case surrounding his contract with the Parramatta Eels that prevented him from playing for any other NRL team until 2028. The Eels initially released him at the end of the 2025 season amid rumors he would join the rival R360 league. However, when R360 postponed its launch until 2028 last November, Lomax was left in limbo and sought a move to AAMI Park.
Legal Battle
A legal battle ensued over his contract with the Eels, which did not allow him to play for any other NRL team until 2028. Lomax hired a lawyer to try to get out of the contract. In December, his lawyer Ramy Qutami said the winger could play with the Storm, Perth Bears, or Canberra Raiders, while Parramatta's barrister Arthur Moses SC argued that the withholding of consent depended on the conduct of both teams. The Supreme Court eventually ruled against Lomax, and he agreed not to play for another NRL team until 2028 without the Eels' permission.
Switch to Rugby Union
Instead of attempting to find another NRL club, Lomax opted to switch codes, joining the Western Force of Rugby Australia. He joined fellow former NRL stars Angus Crichton and Mark Nawaqanitawase in the rugby union league. Lomax has featured twice for the struggling Western Force, who sit second-from-bottom with only four wins in eleven matches this season. He scored his only try so far on his debut. His move to union makes him eligible to play at the 2027 Rugby World Cup, which will be hosted in Australia.
