Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz has eased injury concerns over Antoine Semenyo after the forward limped off late in the Black Stars' 2-1 World Cup group stage defeat to Croatia in Philadelphia. The Manchester City winger received treatment following a collision in the Croatia box but finished the match.
Injury Update
Speaking after the game, Queiroz confirmed the issue is minor. “No, it's just a knock, twisted a little bit the ankle,” he told reporters. Semenyo is expected to be available for Ghana's round of 32 fixture.
Match Overview
Ghana fell to third in Group L after goals from Petar Sucic and Nikola Vlasic for Croatia, with Derrick Luckassen's equaliser proving insufficient. Queiroz attributed the loss to defensive errors. “Croatia scored two goals, two easy goals. Much too easy, the way they scored. When you score one more goal than the opponent, you have the merit to win the game. Simple like that. It means we make one more mistake than the opponent, and when you make one more mistake than the opponent, that is it,” he said.
